= Your Own Personal Workflow = /open source your life/ Background: The integration of the individual into the knowledge stream gives rise to a fractal trace of methodology enacted of intent and serendipity. These we call "my way of working" or "how I have my computer set up" and the like Componentization: * computing platform * choice of softwares ...and these are choices, to whatever degree free will is extant. We have a melange of requirements both of our selves and imposed and derived of our environs, and we have values -- aesthetic, prudent, and as of a tapestry -- of which we temper our decisions. This area, have been relegated to either untackable or uninteresting save perhaps for proprieterization, casting division on our heroes of the open source revolution. Instead of learning from how others work, it becomes best to label one's own methods as of the eternal wellspring, all others apocryphal, and not to talk about them save to reference the editor war of yore... TOWER OF BABEL !!! Issues: * How do you share configuration??? As a personal example: - X configuration [basically linux/freenix] - window manager (fluxbox) configuration - bash and other unix environ configuration [posix] - program customizations (e.g.): - hg - irssi - my own programmatic creations - ... The greater value is not in individual pieces, which are indeed valuable [1], but in the integration (see e.g. http://k0s.org/portfolio/my-UX.txt for how I have used various components synergistically). Value: collaboration; learning from others; curation A methodology: - config in (D)VCS: http://k0s.org/hg/config
